Frequently Asked Questions: Your European Bike Tours Guide
Planning your first (or next!) cycling holiday with European Bike Tours? Here’s everything you need to know — from choosing the best season to what to pack.
When’s the Best Time to Go?
Europe’s main cycling season runs from April to October. For mild, quieter conditions, consider southern regions like Italy, Spain, or Portugal in March, or September and October.

Can I Start My Tour on Any Date?
Yes! Our self-guided tours are flexible—you pick the start date, and we handle the logistics. Just note that some regions are seasonal, so check availability online or get in touch if your date isn’t listed.

Do I Need a Visa?
EU citizens: ID card is enough
US, Canada, Australia: No visa needed for most of Europe
UK: An ETA (£16) is now required
Always check your country’s entry requirements in advance.
What Should I Pack?
We’ll send you a full list before departure, but essentials include:
Padded shorts & rain jacket
Water bottle & snacks
Evening wear
Repair kit & phone mount
We provide helmets, panniers or handlebar bags, locks, and lights.
Can I Bring My Own Bike?

How Does Luggage Transfer Work?
Each morning, leave your bags in the designated spot (by 8:00 a.m.). We’ll deliver them to your next hotel—you ride light and worry-free.
What Are the Routes Like?
Mostly quiet country roads, with some forest paths or farm tracks for scenic variety. Occasionally, short sections on busier roads may be included.
Is Insurance Required?
Yes, we recommend personal travel insurance that covers medical, theft, cancellation, and liability.
What’s Included?
Typically:
Accommodation with ensuite
Breakfast
Daily luggage transfer
Route guidance & navigation app
Lunch, dinner, and bike hire are available at an extra cost.
Are Helmets Included or Mandatory?
Helmets are strongly recommended and may be required in some countries. We provide them, but bringing your own for fit and hygiene is a good idea.
What If My Bike Breaks Down?
You’ll have a repair kit for minor issues. For anything bigger, local bike shops or our support team can assist or replace your bike if needed.

Can I Take a Rest Day?
Self-guided tours let you set your pace. You can skip a day or add rest days, though certain legs may not have alternative transport.
