Day 1:    Arrive in Monopoli

Arrive in the glorious coastal town overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Get lost in the labyrinth of streets amidst whitewashed houses. Visit the main church, and the stunning, Fortress overlooking the deep sea.

 

Day 2:    From Monopoli to Alberobello

Ride inland through the distinctive Apulican landscape, including a visit to the enchanting caves of Castellana. Continue to the Trulli capital of the world: Alberobello. The trulli, or white washed stone houses with conical roofs, are exceptionally intriguing and comfortable, as you will experience tonight when you sleep in one. The 1,000 trulli surround you such that you truly feel transported into another world.

Day 3:    Loop ride via Locorotondo and Cisternino

Today  you  cycle  along  quiet  back  roads  that  wind through  rolling  hills  dotted  by  endless  olive  groves. Nearing  the  town  of  Locorotondo,  vineyards  start  to dominate  the  countryside  as  this  is  an  area  where sublime white wines are produced.  The name Locorotondo means 'round place' and this is exactly  what  the  shape  of  the  old  town  is  like.  It  is listed as one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy and its heritage includes several beautiful churches and a labyrinth of whitewashed alleys.

Day 4:    Ride from Alberobello to Monopoli
34 km

From Alberobello you ride to the Adriatic coast. The route leads you through the beautiful scenery of ochre coloured fields dotted with gnarly olive trees and trulli of all kinds and sizes.  Cycle along a panoramic coastal  road that is a natural  balcony  overlooking  the  beautiful  blue  waters  of the  Adriatic.  Descend  on  winding  roads,  feeling  the  sea air to arrive at the town of Conversano.  The  coastal  planes  are  cultivated  with  a  variety  of  crops and dotted with elegant 'masserie' farmsteads.  Cycle on to reach Monopoli,  a bustling fishing town, with splendid  white-washed  houses  and  narrow  alleyways  and our charming accommodation positioned in the heart of the old town.

Day 5:     Arrivederci Monopoli!

The trip and our services end after breakfast. You may have booked extra nights in Lecce or a transfer to the airport.
